k-art in finland

K-Art in Finland is a cultural initiative by Vibes and Vistas (VNV) that brings contemporary Korean art into meaningful dialogue with Finland’s vibrant and globally engaged art scene. With its deep public investment in culture and openness to international perspectives, Finland offers fertile ground for cross-cultural exchange. This initiative explores timely themes such as identity, migration, and belonging, while advancing the global visibility of Korean contemporary art. Through collaborative partnerships and thoughtfully curated programming, K-Art in Finland supports emerging artists and contributes to a more inclusive, interconnected, and artistically diverse future.

Curated Collaborations

At the heart of K-Art in Finland is a commitment to building meaningful partnerships with galleries, museums, cultural spaces, and festivals across Finland to co-curate thoughtful, high-impact programs that spotlight contemporary Korean art. These collaborations take shape through solo showcases, group exhibitions, and hybrid events, each tailored in close dialogue with Finnish partners to reflect shared curatorial visions and resonate within local contexts. Drawing from our talented network of VNV Member Artists, Korean artists working transnationally across a wide range of media, we aim to foster artistic exchange and forge new connections between Korean and Finnish creative communities.

Digital Distribution

VNV aims to introduce its quarterly digital magazine to key audiences across Finland as a curated resource for engaging with contemporary Korean art. Each issue features a rich mix of artist stories, visual portfolios, and critical writing that explores a wide spectrum of themes.

This content is made accessible to Finnish institutions and individuals who can meaningfully benefit from it. For curators and art professionals, the magazine serves as a curatorial reference point for discovering Korean artists and programming ideas. For schools, universities, and cultural studies programs, it offers an educational tool that supports learning and cross-cultural research. For collectors, it acts as a gateway to emerging and established Korean artists whose practices may expand and diversify private or institutional collections.

YouthCanvas Exchange

VNV’s biannual YouthCanvas art contest celebrates bold creativity and cultural insight among Korea’s next generation of visual artists. YouthCanvas Exchange extends our contests into the Finnish cultural landscape, creating new pathways for talented young Korean artists to reach international audiences and gain professional opportunities abroad.

We aim to create tangible outcomes for contest winners by connecting them with Finnish art spaces, youth-focused institutions, and residency programs. Select finalists may be invited to present their work through collaborative workshops or curated displays hosted by Finnish partners. Over time, the goal is to build a sustainable pipeline that links winners with real-world opportunities for cultural exchange and early-career development, supporting young artists as they step onto the international stage.
